Trimetazidine inhibits β-oxidation of fatty acids by blocking long-chain 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase, thereby enhancing glucose oxidation. By preserving energy metabolism in cells exposed to ischaemia or hypoxia, it prevents decrease in intracellular ATP levels and ensures proper functioning
